emailbannefeb20162rHappy February! So much has happened since our last newsletter when we announced the dates for this year’s giant community event.

Our website is being updated regularly with new information and our homepage provides a wonderful short overview of what will be happening this April 15+16th and April 22+23rd.

We are honoured to be partnering with School District 62 and Royal Bay Secondary School, an incredible new green-built venue in the former Colwood gravel pit (off Metchosin Road), and the Royal BC Museum for this year’s Earth Week events.

Friday, April 15th, (6-10 pm) Features a locally-sourced, four-course organic dinner prepared by some of Victoria’s finest chefs, two amazing bands, an art display, silent auction, dancing and more.

Saturday, April 16th (10 am-5 pm) Share Fair tradeshow, displays, demos, speakers and cafes. Includes representatives from the renewable energy, green building, electric bike and vehicle sector, technology, farming, plus, business, community, NGO, art, education, health and wellness leaders with displays and programs to appeal to all ages, including a Repair Cafe, World Cafe, and Song Cafe.

Friday, April 22 (7-10 pm) Features two internationally renown presenters, Franke James and award-winning local filmmaker Sarah Robertson, with an incredible program that includes the Victoria premiere of Sea Blind, a new film currently being shown in Europe.

Saturday, April 23 (1-5 pm) Includes live music, storytelling, art with a message and a presentation focusing on indigenous wisdom through music, dance and spoken word with international guest presenters.

I had the good fortune of being introduced to one of our presenters while in Kauai on a short vacation recently. She is an internationally respected cultural ambassador for Hawaii. When I asked her if she would consider sharing her many talents at our April festival, she agreed! Details are available on our website. More updates will be coming soon so do check back in.

If you are interested or know someone who would like to speak, exhibit, perform, donate to our silent auction, volunteer and/or sponsor a presenter, please contact us by Feb. 12th.

Proceeds from this year’s event will help build a new shelter for homeless youth in Colwood.

If you would like me to speak to your office, organization or a group about Creatively United just let me know.
Thank you to everyone who has already been in touch. The response has been incredible!
We love our commUNITY.
