This is myth\, legend\, theology and philosophy. As Elder Bill sat in a tent during a West Coast storm at the height of the protests\, he experienced the final phase of his personal decolonization\, his absolute re-indigenization\, when he realized: “I know what happened!”\, a revelation that has informed his life ever since. \nCombining the story of Elder Bill’s personal life and ancestors\, elder wisdom\, settler feminism\, and the inspirational story of the Fairy Creek Blockades — the largest act of civil disobedience in Canada — Listening Once Again to Our Great Mother is wisdom weaving to motivate those towards their own self-awakening\, even after Elder Bill is gone.

While he previously championed strict regulations\, carbon taxes\, and mandated phase-outs globally\, his government’s new strategy—outlined in his “Forward Guidance” framework—deliberately prioritizes economic affordability\, national unity\, and energy expansion. \nFor more than two decades\, journalist and author Arno Kopecky has examined the difficult trade-offs that define our relationship with nature.  Kopecky has travelled the globe reporting from the front lines of environmental change\, asking uncomfortable questions about conservation\, climate change\, Indigenous rights\, and energy. Knowing a career in music is no guarantee\, Amy decided to practice other trades\, but her passion for music prevailed\, leading her to collaborations with Moby and opening for April Wine\, Farmer’s Daughter\, and Chris Cummings. Amy has an instinctive ability to craft stories into song and deliver them with sincerity and passion\, all qualities that make her an undeniable Canadian talent.\n\n​ \nAmy “wowed” Canada with her appearance on CTV “The Launch” in 2018. This opened up industry doors as she was quickly signed by both a booking agency and management company.  In March 2019 Amy performed at the prestigious Canadian Screen Awards in Toronto. \n​

DESCRIPTION:We start the 2026 season of Play Streets with a welcoming party at the Fernwood Neighbourhood House. Meet new neighbours\, and find out about upcoming activities for kids. Did you know Play Streets is part of a world-wide movement to reclaim streets for kids? Join us for four street parties April through September on the 1600 block of Camosun — the street will be closed to cars and open to PLAY. Each party celebrates making spaces safe for kids to be free\, while encouraging multi-generational play and connection\, too! Finally\, in November of this year we are hosting a special community board game café at Little Fernwood! Find a new favourite game and new friends who play with. Thank you to our volunteers and to the Welcoming Group and the Victoria Neighbourhood Small Grants to make this possible!
