DESCRIPTION:Registration is open for summer arts workshops at Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts at Pearson College! This year we are offering 34\, 2 and 5 day workshops for adults\, and 3 residency opportunities. This years course offerings include many workshops in ceramics\, fibre arts\, drawing\, painting\, sculpture\, writing\, printing and design\, with students and faculty travelling form around the world to attend\, and many returning alumni looking forward to seeing their MISSA community. Maybe you know someone who would be intersted in attending? missa.ca/workshops \n  \nMetchosin International Summer School of the Arts – ‘MISSA’ was founded in 1984 at Pearson College by 5 local artists\, Robin Hopper (ceramics)\, Carole Sabiston (fibre arts)\, Cheryl Samuel (weaving)\, Flemming Jorgensen (painting)\, and Rona Murray (writing).  In the first year’s program there were 5 classes and 53 students. Since that time our program has flourished\, and this year we anticipate over 300 students. There are accommodations on campus\, including breakfast and dinner\, and the workshop fees include lunch. Pearson College is an ideal location for our creative community to gather\, learn and enjoy meeting new old friends. DESCRIPTION:Pacific Opera Victoria’s Youth Summer Performance Program presents Robin Hood\, a fully staged\, spirited 55-minute opera by Ben Moore and Kelley Rourke.Featuring talented\, local performers ages 8–18\, alongside professional artists\, this lively retelling of the classic legend is filled with adventure\, humour\, music\, and heart: a fun and memorable experience for audiences of all ages. \nIn a land savaged by the corrupt Sheriff of Notthingham\, Robin Hood flees to Sherwood Forest and vows to defend its ancient trees\, wildlife\, and the people who rely on them. With a band of common folk\, he builds a community rooted in harmony with nature—much to the outrage of the Sheriff and his hapless deputies. Yet Robin\, a reluctant hero\, struggles with the weight of leadership: can he protect the forest without becoming what he opposes? \nIn addition to the Robin Hood performances\, audiences can also enjoy Trees: Celebrating Gaia\, a unique\, 3-dimensional fine art installation (in the lower lobby area)\, featuring the premiere of more than 30 black & white and colour images by award-winning Victoria\, BC photographers Blair Ketcheson and Frances Litman. There will also be presentation tables celebrating trees and ecological diversity by the free community event and resource hub Creatively United for the Planet\, in partnership with Climate and the Arts\, and the Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT). \nPresented as part of the Celebrating Gaia Series with thanks to the Gail O’Riordan Climate and the Arts Legacy Fund c/o the Victoria Foundation.

These vendors are accustomed to serving customers through their windows. Close parking is available but very limited. First aid services will be on the premises.
