Inside the chapel\, staff will explain its history and how the cremation process takes place. Then we will go behind the scenes into the working part of the building where the retorts and other equipment are located. We will have a chance to see the existing retorts and also the new ones that are replacing them. Meet at the crematorium. Drive through the ROBP gates at 4673 Falaise Road and follow the signs. DESCRIPTION:Construction of Helmcken House began in 1852 to provide a home for newlyweds Dr. John Sebastian Helmcken and Cecilia Douglas (daughter of Sir James and Lady Douglas). It remains on its original site and is the second oldest house in BC. It was occupied by the Helmcken family until 1939 when it became a museum. John Adams will share the fascinating stories about how the house was built\, and its evolution as a historic site. During December\, the OCS’s Christmas tours at the Old Burying Ground (Dec. 6) and Ross Bay Cemetery (Dec. 13) will include stories about Helmcken family graves. SUMMARY:Celebrate The Holiday Season With The Victoria Arion Male Choir
DESCRIPTION:  \n  A community of male-voice singers who sing for health and joy: we are the Victoria Arion Male Choir. Our history goes back to 1893 when the Arion Club of Victoria gave its first public concert at the Institute Hall on View St. \n  \nOur mission is to maintain the great tradition of male-voice choral music\, and to share that music through two or more public concerts each year.  The choir also performs at senior residences\, and the Victoria Remembrance Day ceremony at the BC Legislature.  \n  \nVAMC supports music education through our choral scholarship program\, which allows up to four student musicians to sing with us each year. We welcome new members: come and share with us the joy of male choral music! \nOur Christmas /winter concert\, Holiday Harmonies V will be held on Saturday December 12th\, 2PM\, Cordova Bay United Church with special guests South Island Harmony. Tickets\, $25.00 and will be available through choir members\, at the door or on line through Eventbrite The choir will also receive donations for non-perishable foods that will be sent to the Saanich Peninsula Food Bank and warm socks for those who are in need at Our Place Society.
