DESCRIPTION:Sing your heart out with the Gay4Choir Pride Festival Chorus! Join our sonic queer community for 5 weekly rehearsals culminating in a joyful performance at the Victoria Pride Festival on July 12th. \nWhat to expect: \n\n5 weekly rehearsals starting Monday June 1st at 6:30-8:30pm\nPLUS the amazing opportunity to perform at the Victoria Pride Festival on July 12th\nJoyful queer community raising our voices together in harmony – maybe make a friend!\nA welcoming and empowering choral environment. This choir is about intergenerational queer connection\, joy\, and sonic magic! We will be working toward a polished and satisfying performance\, but there is no audition; We encourage anyone who loves to sing and is able to commit to the rehearsals to sign up. No prior choir experience necessary. Rehearsals are designed to be accessible for less experienced singers\, while fun and satisfying for more experienced singers too. This is community\, baby!\nChoir members will have access to all the sheet music and voice part recordings early and are encouraged to get familiar with the songs before rehearsals start.\nWhat we’ll be singing: Beginning to Feel the Years by Brandi Carlisle\, Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae\, Silk Chiffon by MUNA\, Somewhere Over the Rainbow\, and maybe more!\n\n* Space is limited\, so please register early. The final signup deadline is May 25th \nWhere rehearsals take place: Lutheran Church of the Cross\, 3787 Cedar Hill Rd\, Victoria \nWhen: June 1\, 8th\, 15th\, 22nd\, and 29th from 6:30-8:30pm\, and then a performance at PRIDE on July 12th. \nPrice: $114-210 sliding scale. Suggested median cost is $162\, and participants are encouraged to contribute along the sliding scale according to your means. SUMMARY:Creative Eco-Mindfulness Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Unite your love of art and nature during this series of creative mindfulness two-hour workshops! \nThrough expressive arts\, eco-mindfulness practices\, and supportive community\, we will take good care of eco-anxiety/grief and nurture hope in relationship with the earth. \nA little different each time\, the three workshops will feature guided deep relaxation\, gentle movement\, journaling\, collaging\, and singing. \nNo prior experience or training in any art forms is required. Following the workshop\, participants will have the option to spend an additional hour on a self-guided nature walk around the gardens. \nThis workshop is facilitated by Anna Bigland-Pritchard\, a local soprano\, songwriter\, voice teacher\, Expressive Arts Therapy student\, and lover of the earth. Anna is also 1/2 of opera+ ensemble\, Gay4Nature Collective along with Alex Chen\, and co-directs the Queer&Trans Choir Project with Em Postl.
