SUMMARY:LNG: Not in Our National Interest
DESCRIPTION:“LNG: Not in Our National Interest” is a new national campaign to pressure PM Carney and his key ministers to stop the government from giving billions more of our taxpayer money to dirty energy megaprojects that only benefit foreign billionaires. We want the government to start to fund the clean\, renewable economy instead. \n\n\n\n\n\nHear from movement leaders and experts on why the Ksi Lisims and LNG Canada Phase 2 LNG export projects are not in our national interest. Learn why these foreign-owned\, high-cost projects don’t make economic sense\, will raise energy prices at home\, and harm Indigenous reconciliation. You’ll also learn how much the clean\, renewable economy is better on every measure. \n  \nWe’ll also share details of exciting in-person actions happening across the country for the Week of Action in mid-April. Now is our chance to tell the Carney government that Canadians say NO to more free money for big polluters\, and YES to funding the clean energy economy.  \n  \nSpeakers (and see below):  \n\nChief Na’Moks\, Hereditary Chief of the Wet’suwet’en Nation\nGwii Lok’im Gibuu (Jesse Stoeppler)\, Co-Executive Director of the Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition\nDr. Melissa Lem\, Past President\, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment\nJanelle Lapointe\, Senior Advisor\, David Suzuki Foundation\nAndy Hira\, Clean Energy Research Group\, Simon Fraser University\nKai Nagata\, Energy Campaigner\, Dogwood\nEmiko Newman\, Coordinator\, BC Climate Emergency Campaign\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Register for March 31st

SUMMARY:‘Laxwesa Wa – Strength of the River’ Movie Night
DESCRIPTION:Laxwesa Wa – Strength of the River – directed by Barb Cranmer (1995\, 54 min)\, Indigenous filmmaker\nAs distinct fishing societies of great spiritual\, cultural and economic wealth\, Indigenous people have always respected the resources of their rivers and oceans. But within their own lifetime\, they have watched governments “manage” the fishery into a state of crisis. Now it’s time for people to listen to what Indigenous people have to say. Filmmaker Barb Cranmer\, a member of the ’Namgis First Nation\, explores the rich fishing traditions of the Sto:lo\, Heiltsuk and ‘Namgis peoples of Canada’s West Coast in Laxwesa Wa – Strength of the River. With over fifteen years’ experience fishing Johnstone Strait with her father\, Cranmer presents rarely heard stories of traditional fishing practices and documents Indigenous peoples’ efforts to build a sustainable fishery for the future. \nRegister here: https://westcoastclimateaction.ca/register-laxwesa-wa-strength-of-the-river/

SUMMARY:The Climate Brink: On the Brink of Disaster and the Brink of Salvation
DESCRIPTION:Professor Andrew Dessler\, a climate scientist from the Texas Center for Climate Studies\, will examine the tension between climate reality and the political power of fossil fuel interests\, and how it manifests in the public debate over science—including current efforts to challenge the EPA’s endangerment finding.\nThe “brink” we stand on is less about scientific capability and more about the political will to act on what we already know. SUMMARY:Contemplative Forestry with Dr. Jason Brown
DESCRIPTION:The current conversation about forests and forestry is often polarized\, and these strong feelings about forest management are rooted in our worldviews. Each of us sees forests through the lens of our culture and knowledge paradigm. \n“Contemplative” has many meanings but is often associated with silent meditation and spirituality. A contemplative forestry however\, does not take a “hands off” view of forest management\, rather it 1) values manual work as a form of spiritual practice\, 2) is willing to allow forests to “speak” for themselves\, 3) is humble enough to admit that there are some aspects of life we don’t have words or concepts for\, and 4) sees forestry as a mutually beneficial\, place-based vocation. \nJason teaches courses in religious studies and ecological humanities for the department of Global Humanities at SFU. Since 2023\, he has piloted an ecological chaplaincy program at Simon Fraser University which seeks to bring contemplative practice to build resilience to climate anxiety and ecological grief. Jason is an Affiliate Forest Profession with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC). \nRegister: https://www.ecoforestry.ca/events-tours/2026/2/11/contemplative-forestry-with-dr-jason-brown

SUMMARY:WEBINAR: The View from Here
DESCRIPTION:What have climate communicators learned from 2025?\nFor our latest webinar\, climate leaders are coming together to reflect on the challenges of last year and how they’re approaching climate communications in 2026.\nRegister: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_jnAyqOcdQH-LyjKsmexFtQ#/ \nThe last year has felt like a whirlwind. With so much happening on the climate front\, there was little time for reflection. That’s why Re.Climate’s first webinar of 2026 is all about looking back and thinking carefully about what comes next. \nOur five panellists include activists\, academics and practitioners. They’ll take you behind the scenes and offer an honest look at how their work unfolds in practice and share what kinds of narratives and tools we need right now. \nThey will also reflect on:  \n\n\nWhere they’ve had to pivot \n\n\nWhat lessons they’re carrying into 2026 \n\n\nHow to make sense of our present moment \n\n\nThe process of bridging research and practice \n\n\n  \nThe View From Here promises a rich conversation that will surely bring momentum to your climate work in 2026! \nPlease note that this webinar will be conducted in English.
