SUMMARY:What do Canadians really think about climate change? 2026
DESCRIPTION:Do some Canadians really believe climate change is a hoax? \nIt’s hard to believe\, but in 2025 this was a legitimate question for up to 34 per cent of Canadians. It’s a deeply worrying trend that speaks to shifting national conversations around economic security and national unity. And it’s put Canadians in a double bind: Canadians support cleaner energy at home\, but feel the country’s broader economic future—thanks in part to sustained political and industrial messaging—depends on fossil fuels. \nClimate organizations and communicators are forced to navigate this tricky moment marked by policy reversals\, new pipeline projects\, positive electrification progress\, growing uncertainty about where Canada is heading and a population that is confused about the causes of climate change. \nJoin Re.Climate for the launch of our latest public opinion rollup\, where we’ll explore what recent public opinion research says about how Canadians are thinking about climate change\, energy politics and the government’s climate action right now. \nThe webinar will touch on what communicators need to know about current public thinking: What appears durable\, which narratives are gaining traction\, what is driving public attitudes\, and where strategic opportunities for communications still exist. \nPublic opinion is shifting faster than ever. Our annual public opinion rollup brings together over 100 polls published between April 2025 and April 2026 to give you a clear-eyed portrait of where Canadians are at right now. \nPlease note that this webinar will be conducted in English. SUMMARY:Let’s Talk Heat - A Dialogue to Help Launch a BC Heat Collaborative
DESCRIPTION:Extreme heat is an increasing danger for residents of B.C. and much needs to be done. Several heat-focused groups in BC are taking steps to initiate a Heat Collaborative. This initiative seeks to take a cross-sectional approach in advocating for livable temperatures for all. We are bringing together a diverse cross-section of individuals and groups engaging or concerned with heat in some aspect of their interest\, work or membership. \nPlease register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/E0qkViDfT8CB-nCeVyZ1cA. \nTo help launch the Heat Collaborative – we want to hear your heat stories.\nOn May 6\, 2026\, we will be having small group discussions about how you have experienced heat issues in your community and place of work and what solutions we all need to achieve safer communities. We will then hear about some of the work currently being done to address the issues and what gaps remain.\nTo close\, we will ask participants to respond to a short questionnaire about their interests and messages for the Heat Collaborative to be an effective vehicle for livable temperatures for all. \nFacebook event page to share: https://www.facebook.com/share/1BEHE9ewpr/

SUMMARY:BC Public Transit Alliance launch
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to join us for the launch of the Public Transit Alliance of BC\, a new coalition bringing together advocacy groups from across the province to imagine and realize better public transit for everyone. It’s on Tuesday April 28th\, at 6pm. You can register here: https://westcoastclimateaction.ca/launch-public-transit-alliance-bc-register/ \nOur MC is Heather Maclean\, Executive Director of LET’S. Confirmed speakers include:\n\nGeorge Anderson\, MLA\, Parliamentary Secretary for Transit\nEric Doherty\, Transportation planner\nKeith Wiley\, West Kootenay Transit Action\nPaul Adams\, BC Rural Health Network\n\nThe Alliance envisions a British Columbia where everyone can get where they need to go safely\, reliably\, affordably\, and accessibly\, with care\, comfort\, and connection.\nBC now has a strong\, coordinated\, province-wide alliance focused on ensuring that public transportation works for all of us – in the North\, on the Islands\, in our towns and cities\, and in rural and remote communities where public transit is still inaccessible\, unavailable\, or effectively non-existent. We also support railways wherever they are feasible. \nJoin us for our launch event to hear from speakers\, learn about the Alliance’s goals\, and be part of this determined new chapter for transportation equity in BC. We will share our inaugural campaign for a province-wide interconnected bus service. Find out how your voice\, skills\, experience\, and networks can help. We’re looking for allies\, advocates\, and amplifiers at every level. \nThe Public Transit Alliance of BC organizes on the traditional territories of the many First Nations that reside within the colonial borders of BC. We respect the leading role that First Nations are playing as they work to achieve improved public transit within their territories. As rights holders with inherent and constitutionally protected rights to self-determination\, First Nations need to be included at every stage as public transit infrastructure is advanced\, including processes that uphold their free\, prior\, and informed consent and self-determination.\nWe’d love your help in spreading the word – please share this invitation with your networks. \nRegister here: https://westcoastclimateaction.ca/launch-public-transit-alliance-bc-register/

SUMMARY:Protecting Trees\, Dispelling Myths
DESCRIPTION:While many celebrate a succession of sunny days\, the topic turns serious when fish-bearing streams run dry and forests\, trees and gardens wither under the extremes of drought. \nWater restrictions have limited what farmers and industry formerly took for granted and in many parts of BC the situation has already proven deadly. \nAre we putting too much emphasis on targetting trees as a fire threat while we trustingly leave our highly flammable\, plastic-laden vehicles parked in or next to our residences? \nIn celebration of Earth Week and in honour of our urban and established forests\, Creatively United presents a free webinar/conversation and Q&A with some of BC’s leading experts on tree preservation in light of a changing climate and the threat of fire. \nLearn how to discern truth from half-truth (or fiction)\, protect and preserve trees\, your community\, home and loved ones from the growing threat of fire in an era of climate uncertainty. \nHerb Hammond\, forest ecologist\, professional forester\, author; Rachel Holt\, independant ecologist\, professional biologist; and Dave Daust\, forester\, landscape analyst will dispel some of the myths perpetuated by government agencies and social media to reveal how the public can better protect trees and nature in their community and elsewhere. They will also be joined by a conservation biologist and a local FireSmart representative to interpret the FireSmart recommendations for natural landscapes around homes. \nModerated by conservationists Grace Golightly and Creatively United founder Frances Litman. \nCan’t attend the live webinar? Not to worry\, a recording of this event will be sent to all registrants. \nRegister: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_X9mdKbeGQhSvgMRuElYTOA
