SUMMARY:BC Public Transit Alliance launch
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to join us for the launch of the Public Transit Alliance of BC\, a new coalition bringing together advocacy groups from across the province to imagine and realize better public transit for everyone. It’s on Tuesday April 28th\, at 6pm. You can register here: https://westcoastclimateaction.ca/launch-public-transit-alliance-bc-register/ \nOur MC is Heather Maclean\, Executive Director of LET’S. Confirmed speakers include:\n\nGeorge Anderson\, MLA\, Parliamentary Secretary for Transit\nEric Doherty\, Transportation planner\nKeith Wiley\, West Kootenay Transit Action\nPaul Adams\, BC Rural Health Network\n\nThe Alliance envisions a British Columbia where everyone can get where they need to go safely\, reliably\, affordably\, and accessibly\, with care\, comfort\, and connection.\nBC now has a strong\, coordinated\, province-wide alliance focused on ensuring that public transportation works for all of us – in the North\, on the Islands\, in our towns and cities\, and in rural and remote communities where public transit is still inaccessible\, unavailable\, or effectively non-existent. We also support railways wherever they are feasible. \nJoin us for our launch event to hear from speakers\, learn about the Alliance’s goals\, and be part of this determined new chapter for transportation equity in BC. We will share our inaugural campaign for a province-wide interconnected bus service. Find out how your voice\, skills\, experience\, and networks can help. We’re looking for allies\, advocates\, and amplifiers at every level. \nThe Public Transit Alliance of BC organizes on the traditional territories of the many First Nations that reside within the colonial borders of BC. We respect the leading role that First Nations are playing as they work to achieve improved public transit within their territories. As rights holders with inherent and constitutionally protected rights to self-determination\, First Nations need to be included at every stage as public transit infrastructure is advanced\, including processes that uphold their free\, prior\, and informed consent and self-determination.\nWe’d love your help in spreading the word – please share this invitation with your networks. \nRegister here: https://westcoastclimateaction.ca/launch-public-transit-alliance-bc-register/

SUMMARY:Let’s Talk Heat - A Dialogue to Help Launch a BC Heat Collaborative
DESCRIPTION:Extreme heat is an increasing danger for residents of B.C. and much needs to be done. Several heat-focused groups in BC are taking steps to initiate a Heat Collaborative. This initiative seeks to take a cross-sectional approach in advocating for livable temperatures for all. We are bringing together a diverse cross-section of individuals and groups engaging or concerned with heat in some aspect of their interest\, work or membership. \nPlease register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/E0qkViDfT8CB-nCeVyZ1cA. \nTo help launch the Heat Collaborative – we want to hear your heat stories.\nOn May 6\, 2026\, we will be having small group discussions about how you have experienced heat issues in your community and place of work and what solutions we all need to achieve safer communities. We will then hear about some of the work currently being done to address the issues and what gaps remain.\nTo close\, we will ask participants to respond to a short questionnaire about their interests and messages for the Heat Collaborative to be an effective vehicle for livable temperatures for all. \nFacebook event page to share: https://www.facebook.com/share/1BEHE9ewpr/
