The Fire in Our Hearts Documentary
Monday, November 2 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
The Fire in Our Hearts follows the Cheslatta Carrier Nation and Southside residents through the devastating 2018 wildfires and examines what climate disruption looks like when it reaches remote communities with limited emergency resources.
What makes the story unusual is what came afterward. Residents created a community-led response system that has since helped successfully respond to 27 major fires.
Rather than focusing only on disaster, the film asks what communities themselves can contribute to climate adaptation and resilience.
The documentary has won Best Environmental Film at two international festivals.
