BegonY’as on Skampede Strange Hour Stage

🎭 BegonY’as performs Sunday!
Come help name and banish oppressors!!
1:55 PM sharp, Regatta Point Park (Skampede — Strange Hour stage)
Kid-friendly! Bring them along! 🌸
BegonY’as is an audience-participation performance, presenting Begonia — a persona, part garden witch, part flowering begonia — created and embodied by interdisciplinary artist Draa.
BegonY’as embodies the plant world’s quiet resilience and its fierce, rooted resistance to what threatens it — drawing a direct line between tending a garden and tending a just world.
Through dreaming ourselves garden creatures, to naming oppressors in the Oppressor Alphabet, a living ritual is built anew with each performance as BegonY’as invites you – the audience – to name and collectively banish the forces that choke healthy growth — corporate greed, colonialism, ecological neglect — the same way a gardener names pests and weeds so their garden can flourish. Audiences don’t just watch; they participate, becoming part of the ecosystem being cultivated on stage — one where care for the land and care for each other are the same practice.
Tip: BegonY’as is performance #9 — just 10 minutes long, in a lineup of 20 acts running one right after the other! So plan to arrive early and stay late, and catch a few of these diverse acts along the way.
Tip: if you’re also doing Pride, catch the start of the parade at Pandora, then hop on your bike and head over — the Regatta Point stage events start at 12 noon, so there’s time to catch it all. A bicycle is definitely the way to travel on Pride Sunday!
