Real stories, real homes: Building confidence in home energy upgrades

The energy transition is not only about major infrastructure. In the second webinar in our series “When energy gets closer to home,” Re.Climate takes a deeper look at energy conversations happening at the kitchen table, when homeowners decide whether—and how—to make their homes more comfortable, affordable and resilient.
The challenge is, home energy upgrades can be confusing, costly and highly personal. Many people want practical information from someone they can relate to: a neighbour who has been through the process, a contractor with hands-on experience, or a local organization they trust.
Re.Climate, The Regional Municipality of Durham and Windfall Ecology Centre tested what it takes to turn that insight into action. The pilot recruited and trained local homeowners and contractors to share their real experiences with home energy upgrades, then tested their stories through digital ads, direct mail and in-person events.
Join us for an honest discussion of what the pilot found: where trusted messengers helped build awareness and engagement, and what municipalities, utilities, non-profits and communicators can take from the experience. The session will offer practical lessons for anyone trying to help people navigate the process of home retrofits.
