This is an excellent statement from Dr. Suzanne Simard* re: Judge’s ruling opens window to save Fairy Creek as well as remaining old growth forests in British Columbia.
Simard discusses the economic and ecological reasons, to which we might add eco-humanist values such as ethics and morality; that for many reasons, it is just plain wrong for one person, the Premier of British Columbia, to knowingly commit ecocide on an ancient ecosystem found nowhere else on the planet.

Other jurisdictions have taken steps to protect their unique landscape features, using the Rights of Nature and Necessity. It’s about time British Columbia embraces the truths coming from the scientific community, that we imperil the future by destroying that which sustains life on the planet.
