January – A Time to Dream

When the ground is covered with a blanket of snow and all the trees in the forest have drawn their attention inwards, this is time to dream the Dream of Spirit Bear.

This is the time to look at what we hold sacred and carve it into our life. This is the time to see our role and responsbility in the great circle of life.

What is it that draws us to Nature? What qualities do we find there?

Peace, interconnectedness, harmony, reverence, quiet, beauty, awe?

In his essay, Connecting with The Earth: Experiencing the Sacred, James Profit writes:

…Our relationship with the Earth is not merely physical. The Earth is alive; it is spiritual. All entities of the Earth express this spirit. All living trees, the animals of the forest, the elements and the stars are spiritual. Whole ecosystems and land formations have a spirit. Our experience of the Earth brings us beyond ourselves to the source of all that is. We feel awe, respect and peace because we touch into the Divine. We experience the Creator’s beauty.”

Yet, when we look around we see the suffering of Mother Earth, we see the suffering of the forests, the waters and the air. We see that we have neglected our role and responsibility.

Now is the time to dream the dream of Spirit Bear, the dream of how everything is sacred, how everything has a role, a place on the totem and when everything is in balance, how the natural world is our caring mother and provides for all our needs.

This January, take time to dream.
