Health Canada has proposed a “fee recovery” programme that would make herbal medicines so costly for small to medium sized TCM distributors that they may not be able to sustain their herbal product business, forcing them to drastically reduce their product lines or even shut down this side of their business altogether.
YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED!
As stated by our friends at Eastern Currents: “If we don’t act now and raise our collective voice to be the loudest of decibels, we will lose access to single herbs, formulas and likely double the cost of those that do survive this money grab by Health Canada. This increased cost will make the inaccessible to many practitioners and patients.”
Eastern Currents has detailed the entire situation and provided letter templates and links that you and your patients can use to voice your concerns to your local MP and to Health Canada.
All of the information you need to understand the situation and take action is here:

Open this link and complete the action checklist, which includes:
- Submitting your input to Health Canada as part of their public consultation process. It is open until JULY 26, so take action now!
- Writing a letter of concern to the Federal Minister of Health, The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos. Ask your patients to do the same
- Contacting your MP to express your concern in writing on in person/online meeting. Ask your patients to do the same

to access a simple form letter you can write to your MP in a few simple clicks, or come to the clinic, and fill it out on paper, give it to us and we will happily mail it for you.
Protect your right to continue sourcing the full range of quality herbal products from trusted small and medium TCM distributors!
Your proposed “fee recovery” is unfair to the companies that provide non prescription medications. As a retired TCM practitioner I supported and found great results these products for my patients. There is enough regulation and hoops supplement companies have to go through already. Don’t make it even more costly and therefore inaccessible for most people.
Thank you for considering not going through with this bad idea.
