All Hallow’s Eve Dance

The veils are growing thin… and it’s time to gather, dance, share food, and honour the ancestors. All ages welcome! Whether you are celebrating Hallowe’en, All Hallow’s Eve, the ancient Celtic Samhain festival, or marking the transition to Autumn in other ways, you are warmly welcomed to join the fun! Come dance indoors in the beautiful round sanctuary and outdoors around the neighbourhood & across the street at Fisherman’s Wharf Park.

To encourage Advance ticket sales, WE ARE OFFERING $15 ADULT TICKETS THIS WEDNESDAY!

Come hear uber-talented fiddler, Que play some rip-roaring reels & jigs to get us burning up the dance floor! Then we’ll have lots of musical choices playing on 3 silent disco headset channels (one will be an eclectic wave w an Ancestors theme, others will be Funk, House, Pop Dance Hits, 90’s, etc (as well as song requests you send in), plus we’ll have music playing on speakers, a costume parade and dance cypher around & about for those who wish to join in (costumes optional).
Option to bring photos of an ancestor or ancestors that you would like to remember & honour at this time of the year when the veils grow thin. You can add them to a group display if you like. You are welcome to bring potluck snacks and treats to share. There will be tea and lemonade available. Please bring your own cups and plates. This is a multi-generational dance. Young and old and in-between are all welcome!…
COST:
–Adults: $20 at the Door, $18 in Advance, $15 Flash Sale Wed Oct 23
—Families: $20 for Adults, $10 for Kids, to a maximum of $40 per family.
— We need volunteers to help out in exchange for your dance

FLOW OF EVENING:
7-7:15: Arrival, Potluck snacks, art, warmup
7:15-7:30-ish: Fiddle, dancing freestyle Reels & Jigs
7:30-ish -9pm: dancing to a variety of genres (send in song requests if you like) , ribbon wands, shakers, potluck snacks, mural art, dance cypher, dance parade.
SUGGESTIONS OF WHAT TO BRING: framed (or not) photo of your ancestors or loved ones lost to add to a table display, wear a costume if you like, bring a water bottle, shared snacks, your own plate & cup, mural-making supplies to add to what we supply, such as collaging paper, magazines, markers, oil pastels, Bingo markers, fallen leaves, nature objects, etc.
ACCESSIBILITY: The hall entrance is on ground level and accessible. There are two washrooms open to all, accessible to walkers, but not to wheelchairs. You can control the volume on your headset and keep it at a moderate volume or crank it quite loud if you have extra hearing needs.
