I am looking for a Meeting Hall for a Small Senior’s Choir of about 25 people. We have been rehearsing in a Seniors Activity Centre near Tillicum Mall for about 15 years. We used to perform every week, but the Centre has decided that Once a Month is enough.
Our last show was on Wednesday April 2nd, and our Next show isn’t until May 21st, and everybody is getting eager to perform, but the Board insists we had a show for April, and we’ve got a show for May, and that’s it. So we want to get out of there, and take back the reigns.
Right now, we rehearse on Tuesday Mornings 9:30 to 11am, and we perform on Wednesday or Thursday afternoons, usually around Tea Time in Retirement Homes. We do songs that people will remember from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, before Rock took over and made it hard to hear the words. Tunes like “Raindrops keep Falling on my Head”, and “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”.
We are looking for a place that has a parking lot, since everyone still drives to the rehearsals and the shows. When we perform, we charge $60 for 60 minutes, and from that, $20 goes to the director, $20 goes to the Pianist, and $20 goes to purchasing new music.
So we’re hoping to find a place that doesn’t charge rent, or perhaps make a deal…. we could give them a Free Christmas Show in exchange, so they don’t have to hire anyone.
Possibly a Church or a Community Center, as long as there’s Parking for our members.
Any Ideas???
Thank You.
Any suggestions for a meeting space for a 14 person all day strategic retreat?
