Many people who are concerned about the oncoming climate crisis and loss of biodiversity ask the following questions:

“What can one person do? What can one community do?”

These questions and others are addressed in this webinar: BC Drawdown and Countdown to Change, featuring Creatively United for the Planet’s community partners: Dr. Trevor Hancock of Conversations for a One Planet Region; Jonathan O’Riordan of Climate and the Arts, and Sandi Goldie and Jim Bronson of BC Drawdown. This informative interview, led by Frances Litman, introduces and explores a wide range of exciting and innovative creative solutions to reduce our individual carbon footprints and restore biodiversity.

Learn how individuals can become engaged with local community groups to enlarge their influence both in their communities and with all levels of government.

Questions from webinar to be used for journal prompts:

  • What would you do for our planet (really for the future of all species on earth, including humanity) if you knew you could not fail?
  • Imagine the love of a mother for her child. Do you love our planet with that same love? If not, what might help you love her that much?
  • If the success or failure of this planet and of human beings depended on how I am and what I do: how would I be, and what would I do?
  • Hopefully your municipality has a climate action plan. If it doesn’t, how can you work with others to make sure it does? If it does, how do you get it to expand that plan to become a One Planet Action Plan?
  • How do you and your family, friends, neighbours, workmates, community association, service club, faith community, etc. start to talk about these issues of cultural evolution and value shift?
  • What are the implications of value shifts (such as truly valuing nature, community and collaboration, quality of life, rather than more ‘stuff’) for your daily life?
