A fantasy story-poem supporting urban forest, Chantay and the Forest is offered as a fundraiser for non-profits. Storyteller Gerald Harris and artist Holly Joy Harris published the fun and lively children’s story mainly for children of primary school age.

In a forest a Mom was waiting, calling,
“Chantay, hurry please,”
as a little girl was whirling, skipping,
stopping to sing to trees.

It tells about a the girl and her adult allies transforming their sad, grey, treeless city into a happy, healthy city full of trees.

Gerald Harris sells the book and performs the story in the greater Victoria area, donating all profit to Creatively United, Community Trees Matter Network and other non-profit organizations supporting urban forest.

Gerald lives in Victoria where he gardens and organizes in native habitat restoration projects. He serves as a director of Friends of Bowker Creek Society, in support of stream and watershed restoration. He began telling stories for children during his teaching career with the Victoria and Richmond school districts.
