Are you experiencing sorrow at the state of the world?

Are you living in fear for humankind, with the lack of kindness among humans? Do you long to mend hearts, yours and others’, so that peace, compassion and hope can take root in you and your community?

This four-part series will use the ‘Circle of Trust®’ practice to create trustworthy space for participants to share grief for the climate change and species loss, while cultivating habits of self-care, earth stewardship and creating places of hope, resistance and resilience.

Using journaling, small group conversation, deep listening to self and others, (and singing!) … participants will learn ways to hold diversity and tensions in life-giving ways. There will be opportunity to commit to personal actions leading to steps toward social justice and community transformation. Rooted in the principles and practices of the Center for Courage & Renewal©, founded in the work of Parker J. Palmer, this retreat series will honour a deep trust in the inner wisdom of participants, and the courageous space that can be created by the boundaries such as deep welcome, pure invitation, confidentiality, and the value of silence.

This four session program (each 2 hours) will cover the following topics:

APRIL 8 – Session 1: For the Love of Gaia: Rooting Down and Reaching Out

APRIL 15 – Session 2: True Home: Honouring Soil and Soul

APRIL 22 – Session 3: Community Building: From Mycelia to Constellations, We are all in this together

APRIL 29 – Session 4:  Grief and Joy: We Protect What We Love, and Losses Must Hone Our Love

Dianne Baker, Counselling Therapist, Mediator, Song Leader, Facilitator Prepared by The Center for Courage & Renewal

Dianne Baker loves the ocean and its creatures. Living on the Sunshine Coast in BC, she is a year-round ocean swimmer, for joy and invigoration. Dianne shares life with her partner of 42 years, her 90-year-old mother, an aging Maltese, many visiting birds and a prolific garden. Dianne has an active therapy practice as a counsellor and also works with the local Hospice. Earth care, grief, joy and community building inform her song life and her leadership.
