Designing Women – For the Love of Fabric

Tuesday, March 4 @ 8:00 am - Tuesday, April 8 @ 5:00 pm

‘Designing Women’ is an Art Quilting /Critique group of six local artists. We use skills passed down through the ages in new and fresh ways to create innovative art. Our media are fabric, pigment, and thread. Our methods include stitching, quilting, embroidering, and dyeing. We share a love of fabric, colour, and design, and we are dedicated to moving traditional skills to a new form of art. All of us have shown our work locally and some have exhibited pieces at national or international shows, receiving awards. Occasionally we work on a combined effort, usually as a design challenge. We are delighted to display our works at Gallery Splash! in Esquimalt and we acknowledge the Township Community Arts Council (TCAC) for their sponsorship.

‘Designing Women’ includes Brenda Morgan, Georgia Andrews, Helene Driscoll, Julia Foght Robinson, Jacquelyn Jacobi, and Cathy Miller, all members of the Victoria Quilters’ Guild.

To purchase artwork by any of the Designing Women, please direct enquiries to julia.foght@ualberta.ca

Meet the Artists events will be on Saturday, March 8 and March 22, 2-4pm in the gallery.
