Earth Day flash mob to “drop the charges”

Monday, April 22 @ 12:00 pm - 12:15 pm

Free

Amnesty International has collected more than 100,000 signatures from around the world that call on the BC government to stop criminalizing Indigenous land and water defenders. That’s 100,000 people demanding that Premier David Eby and Attorney General Niki Sharma drop the charges against criminalized Wet’suwet’en land defenders.

It’s now time to show the world we have collected and delivered so many signatures in support of the Wet’suwet’en land and water defenders. That’s where you come in!

Please join us as we gather in front of the BC Legislature on Earth Day — Monday, April 22, at 12 noon for a photo-action. We’ll assemble on the lawn for the photo, with the Legislative Buildings as the backdrop. We will share this photo (and a short video) and show the world we have global support for the call to drop the charges and stop criminalizing Indigenous land and water defenders.

Just to be clear, this is a photo-action, not a rally or protest, and there will be no speeches. No representatives from the Wet’suwet’en Nation will be present as they are facing more trials in June.

If you have any questions about this photo-action, please contact Don Wright at dwright@amnesty.ca
