Mend It! Reskilling Workshop with Zero Waste Sooke

Saturday, June 13 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
$15

Zero Waste Sooke returns to the Sooke Region Museum for the second of this spring’s reskilling workshops. If you’re tired of throwing out clothes as soon as they wear out, both you and the planet will benefit from this workshop.

Instructors Paula Johanson, Emily Trim, Lynn Moss, Anne Boquist, and Gillian Gravenor will be on hand to teach basic mending skills to repair your garments or upcycle them into something new and exciting. Who knows—maybe that old pair of jeans can become a tote bag! On site, there will be two sewing machines, electrical outlets, an ironing board and iron, pins, needles, buttons, thread, Velcro, elastic, a few pairs of scissors, old patterns, and some cloth. All you need to bring are old things that need new life!

Also, if you have a sewing machine that you need to learn how to use, you can bring it along. The instructors will show you the basics so you can get more mending done at home.

Registration for each reskilling workshop costs $15 and is limited to 15 people – so register soon to get your spot! If the registration fee is a barrier to you participating in the reskilling workshops, contact the Museum (250-642-6351 or info@sookeregionmuseum.ca) and we can reduce or waive the fee. If you are able to pay a bit more for registration, you will have the option at checkout to donate money to these reskilling workshops to remove financial barriers for others.
