Move the Dial for Climate-Ready Communities

Tuesday, April 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Our communities need to be more prepared for rising temperatures and extreme weather events. And you can help!

Local governments have the power to enhance green infrastructure like tree canopy and nature-based solutions to climate change, and it is up to us residents to ensure they take action. With knowledge and guidance from experienced mentors, you can make a difference!

Sierra Club BC is collaborating with former Victoria City Councillor Ben Isitt to offer a series of workshops to help motivated residents “move the dial” for climate-ready communities. Join us for a series of workshops that will:

  • demystify the process of influencing local government,
  • find and support local government climate champions, and
  • walk you through our new Climate-Ready Communities Toolkit designed to help cities and towns create bylaws and policies that increase climate resilience.

The workshops consist of two 90-minute online interactive sessions depending on your location.

  • For residents of Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria (CRD): April 22 and April 29 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
  • For residents of all other regions in B.C.: April 23 and April 30 from 6:30-8:00 pm.

After the workshops, we will work together to bring key items to your local government, with the goal of passing resolutions, amending or creating bylaws, and taking other meaningful action on issues that help climate-readiness in your community.
