Nature’s Ink Workshop

Do you have old, stained clothes that you don’t wear anymore? Stains don’t need to spell the end of a garment’s useful life; instead, they’re an opportunity to add flair to your wardrobe! You can rescue clothes from the landfill and give them a stylish twist at Nature’s Ink, a textile transformation workshop at the Sooke Region Museum.
Instructor Chantel Traub is a Calgary-based textile artist currently undertaking a residency at Studio H Canada in Metchosin. Her practice is rooted in nature, exploring links between art and ecosystems.
She’ll bring carbon-negative algae ink and her large collection of hand-cut lino blocks depicting native plants and animals. All you need are pieces of clothing that have small stains to cover or just need an added “flash tattoo”!
Alternatively, if you’d rather explore paper media, Chantel will also provide high-quality cardstock to create hand-stamped cards.
Drop in at the museum’s events pavilion or pre-register online.
This workshop is presented in collaboration with Studio H Canada International Artist Residency located in Metchosin, BC, where Chantel Traub is currently an Artist in Residence.
