Opportunity to Connect with Nature while enhancing management of Vancouver Island forests

Volunteer opportunity to assist April 25, 2024 (1:00pm to 1:00am (latest)) volunteer select Scientist/Citizen Scientist Team inventorying 3 remote designated forestry cutblocks in the Gain Creek watershed north of Loss Creek valley west of Jordan River in cooperation with local First Nation. Survey focus is on vulnerable species-at-risk emphasizing Western Screech Owl and Marbled Murrelet but all threatened species will be recorded and reported to land managers. Participants must be physically fit, self-contained, able to record data and plan on 2 hours travel by road before/after survey. Transportation provided. Contact Jim Cuthbert, 250 896-6379.
