We are already beginning to see the effects of a Donald Trump Presidency highlighted by his proposed cabinet selections and multiple tariff threats.  Will he deliver the dictates of Project 2025?  If so, we are all in for some major changes in the economy and society in general.  The effects of these changes will likely be felt world-wide.

Let’s discuss what we think is likely, and what is not likely for 2025 and beyond in light of a Trump Presidency.

Here’s are several interesting links related to this topic to get you going…

About the possible consequences of a Trump presidency:

Even though no one can predict the future for certain, the election of Donald Trump is set to bring profound changes to the economic and regulatory landscape of the United States.  https://www.thomsonreuters.com/en-us/posts/government/trump-economic-regulatory-implications/  While some industries might benefit from deregulation and tax cuts, the broader implications could include increased market volatility, environmental risks, and challenges to global trade dynamics.

Here’s what Trump 2.0 means for the economy, from tariffs to mass deportations  https://www.npr.org/2024/11/06/nx-s1-5181327/trump-election-economy-tariffs-deportations

How the Trump presidency might change the global economy  https://theconversation.com/how-the-trump-presidency-might-change-the-global-economy-242980  It is unlikely that a Trump administration will reverse the path of lower US interventionism. It is also unlikely to lead any major initiative on peace, climate change or on the liberalisation of trade.

Questions:

How will the Trump Presidency affect Canada?  Can we survive it unscathed?

Should Canada be reaching out for other trading partners and transition away from dependence on the US?

How will Trump respond to the threat of a BRICS trading bloc?  Will the newly empowered crypto currency market play a role?  Will the US dollar lose its world reserve currency status?  If the US dollar collapses, what happens to the Canadian dollar?

Will Trump end the Russia-Ukraine war?  Will the US further empower Israel?  Will the US intervene in the Sudan civil war, the chaos and anarchy in Haiti, the drug wars in Mexico, or other conflict zones?

Will the US military refuse a Trump order to round up and deport illegal immigrants?  Will Canada see an influx of immigrants coming from the US?

What can you say about people who voted for, and elected, to the world’s most powerful position, a psychopathic, misogynistic, racist, egotistical bully?
