Canada, the US and the UK all suffer the consequences of winner-take-all voting systems that distort election results, polarize politics and shut voters out.
In this webinar, leading experts and campaigners for proportional representation from Canada, the US, and the UK, this webinar will discuss the issues each country has with their winner-take-all elections, how transitioning to proportional representation can help address these issues, and what the routes to reform in each country look like.

Dennis Pilon’s research has focused primarily on issues of democratization and democratic reform in western countries in both contemporary and historical contexts. His published work includes many journal articles as well as reports for the Law Commission of Canada, the Centre for Social Justice, and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.
Over the past decade, Dennis has done considerable public speaking and media work commenting on many aspects of politics with reporters from print, radio and television and has also acted as a consultant on election issues for various legal firms, political parties, trade unions, community groups, and the Auditor General of Canada. |

Hina Bokhari has been a Member of the London Assembly since 2018, and the leader of the Liberal Democrats in the Assembly since 2024.
The London Assembly is elected by proportional representation.
Hina Bokhari was one of the first Muslim women to serve in the Assembly.
