The blockades are still up at Fairy Creek, one of the last remaining unlogged old growth valleys and watersheds in southern BC.
One of our camps now has an Elder tent and Elder Bill Jones, spent the night on the blockade on his land the other night.
We are meeting to discuss a possible re-configuration of camps as we now have information of another possible road-building foray into Fairy Creek headwater that we will be doing reconnaissance work on and possibly establishing another third permanent blockade location and camp.
Efforts have been made to winterize the camps and now we are set up with wifi in the ‘wilderness’. Many new people are joining the blockades, now into their second month and we have a schedule to make sure there will be enough folks in the blockades through the rainy season.
Elder Bill Jones has taken a strong leadership role on the blockades, issuing a letter of invitation to all people, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to come together on the land in unity to defend the sacred forests, where he walked and received teachings as a child.
We are contemplating a GoFundMe page, but for the moment etransfers can be sent to rain4estflyingsquad@gmail.com
Thanks so much for your enthusiastic support.
