Fairway Neighbours Unite for a Livable Langford
While Langford appears to be following the letter of the law, they are certainly NOT following Best Practices for keeping their citizens informed:
– Releasing plans and architectural drawings on the Friday afternoon prior to a Monday Public Hearing does not allow citizens enough time to totally understand and ask questions before a meeting scheduled on the very next business day.
Why doesn’t Langford want its citizens engaged and informed?
– Langford only posts specific teleconferencing call-in information & agenda on Friday, the end of business day, prior to the Monday Public Hearing. Why do they wait until the last possible moment to share this call-in information?
Why not post this information a week in advance, so that it can be properly reviewed?
Public Hearing – March 15th 5:30PM
This will be your LAST opportunity to voice your concerns for the record.
We need at least 10 people to call-in for our 647 Goldstream Public hearing!
Call-in to take a stand to save our neighbourhood, even if only repeating what a previous caller has said – City Council will then know that more than one person shares these views.
Ask for (or anything else you wish to share)
1. Building height on Fairway Ave to be held to 4 stories.
2. Require an Entrance/Exit for project onto Goldstream Ave.
3. a Smoking area to be included within the proposed 647 Goldstream project.
4. A construction schedule to limit construction noise to reasonable hours and 6 days a week or less.
We will post call-in information and agenda items as soon as they are posted on the Langford City Hall Website or follow this link yourself:(correct info not listed until March 12, 4:30 PM)
If you would like to hear the Public Participation audio recording link from the First Reading on Feb. 16 you can download it. Fairway Neighbours participation starts at 1:11:40
Ongoing Petition!
Please CONTINUE to sign our online petition
and share widely! We will present the updated petition at Public Hearing.
Goldstream Gazette link: Langford gave first reading on Feb. 16 to rezone 647 Goldstream Ave. Project has been limited to six storeys. Council directed staff to work on trying to obtain access/egress from the development directly onto Goldstream Avenue.
FOCUS MAGAZINE link: The Goldstream/Fairway proposal moving into single-family neighbourhoods are causing more dissent than Langford council has witnessed in the past, including around wider issues such as lack of transparency and timely information.
Stay Informed! Speak Your mind! Call-in to speak to City Council or write more letters to City Councillors. Let City Hall know that you still want the building height reduced & an entrance/exit onto Goldstream.
