Calling all Canadian youth interested and active in climate activism.

Now in its third year, it requires applicants under 20 years old to demonstrate devotion to taking meaningful steps toward improving the outlook for our planet concerning climate change.

The award is managed under the auspices of the Institute for Sustainability Education and Action [I – SEA], a registered Canadian charity that has been working diligently in the climate sphere for seventeen years.

We greatly value the fabulous work your organization is doing in the climate landscape. Our simple wish is that environmental groups like yours can help to make youth aware of this powerful initiative. We want to be sure that your young collaborators who are making a difference, will have an opportunity to be recognized by this pan-Canadian award.

Our Youth Climate Cabinet, the custodians of the Award are working diligently to magnify this climate movement. It’s a simple idea but it’s a big idea: shine a light so that teenagers can see the positive efforts their friends are making. Shine a light so that adults, communities and politicians can see these young spirits on fire.

The submission must take the form of a film of up to 5 minutes, or a 500-word essay (or combination of text and photo essay), that shares the applicant’s passion and commitment to their climate activism. Submissions are received online through our website during the application period which begins on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, and closes on Earth Day, April 22, 2024.

Cash awards are as follows: $1000 for applicants 14 to 19 years of age; and $500 for applicants under 14.
