Aysha Emmerson is a brave young student at Harvard doing ambitious undergraduate research.

Her invitation:

Hello! My name is Aysha Emmerson. I am grateful to have grown up on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples (Gulf/Vancouver Islands) and am currently a fourth-year undergraduate at Harvard University.

I’m seeking individuals (18+) involved with the Fairy Creek Blockades last summer, to participate in my research inquiry that is being launched with the support of Elder Bill Jones.

Formal archival work has yet to be done to systematically document the worldviews and experiences of this diverse group. Together, we can build this archive—weaving the hopes, hardships, and lessons learned of those involved, to build the history of what the Ada’itsx/Fairy Creek Blockade will mean for future generations and other efforts at social/environmental organizing.

All individuals (18+) who spent at least one overnight at the Blockade qualify for the study and are invited to participate in this opportunity. More detailed information about how I am keeping the data confidential, secure, and de-identified, can be found in the first few pages of the form: bit.ly/fairycreeksurvey2

The form takes between 20m and 35m to complete. I will be accepting responses until August 30th—although the sooner people respond, the more quickly we can make use of the data for the benefit of the movement. The first 80 participants will be eligible to receive an $8 CAD gift card to Tim Hortons as a thank you for their contributions. All participants can opt-in to receive a copy of the findings and will have the option to participate in an interview.

Your voice and experiences matter. We hope this survey will serve as a meaningful opportunity for personal reflection and we encourage you to distribute it to others in your network. Thank you in advance for considering contributing your time and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or desires to become further involved.

Again, here is the survey link: bit.ly/fairycreeksurvey2

Best regards,

Aysha
