All of us can contribute to a healthy environment in our communities. CENiC—the Citizens’ Environment Network in Colwood—is celebrating the efforts of some of the community leaders
who are showing the way.

Colwood residents Abby and Roger St. Pierre were recently presented with the first annual CENiC environmental award for their many years of volunteer work removing litter and invasive
species in Latoria Creek Park.

CENiC Chair Harley Gordon congratulated the St. Pierres. “Your tireless efforts over the last 15 years have helped to retain the special nature of Latoria Creek Park and we are so grateful for the work that you do. As a community we extend our deepest gratitude” Honorable mentions were given to Royal Roads University for their new and forward-thinking climate action plan, and to London Drugs for providing a recycling program in Colwood. This program helps to keep recyclable materials such as styrofoam and soft plastic packaging as well as light bulbs and batteries out of the landfill.
