Did you know that 73 acres of precious urban forests situated next to our Hartland Landfill are slated to be destroyed in order to provide a bigger hole for more garbage? In an era of climate crisis, we, the Dogwood South Island Regional Team (SIRT) feel this is unconscionable.
If you feel as passionate as we do about protecting our future, please take these two simple but impactful actions to stand up for these precious forests:
- Sign and share this petition
- Submit your comments to the CRD about stopping the expansion of the Hartland Landfill, deadline February 15, 2021. Just type your comments in the box then click on the Finish button.
In a nutshell, ask that the CRD strike its plans for the expansion of the Hartland Landfill. They should be seeking out new technologies to deal with solid waste and at the same time work towards Zero Waste and a circular economy to avert ever having the need to expand the landfill. We need to be phasing out landfills instead of encouraging more opportunities to dump garbage!
Let’s build a beautiful future together!
