A group of young artists in Cedar have started a digital public art project called the Cedar Sound Project. They are calling for submissions from community members of “field recordings”: sound snippets which document a moment in your daily life during Covid-19 isolation. Their goal is to build our sense of community by using the “sound collage” as a medium. Like modern photography, sound clips can be recorded quickly and easily on smartphones and digital recording devices. They are inviting Mid Island residents to submit a 10-30 second audio recording of something that captures the attention of your ears in your day, answering the question “What is connecting you to the here and now? What does this sound like?” For more information, see www.facebook.com/cedarsoundproject
