The Koksilah Working Group is a group of community volunteers who address concerns about the impacts of land use and climate change on their local water and environment on Vancouver Island, Canada.
It was established in 2015 by the Cowichan Station Area Association, which brings neighbours together to promote the livability and sustain the natural environment and the historic and cultural values of the Cowichan Station area.
Heather Pritchard is a Professional Forester with 30 years experience working in the natural resource sector, including for a woodlot, a community forest, and a demonstration forest in the West Kootenays that practices ecosystem-based forestry to protect local water sources. She has also worked for the provincial government on riparian and species at risk policy.
Since moving to the Cowichan Valley 7 years ago, she has been inspired by the hard work performed by local communities and NGOs, and has joined the challenge of finding ways to protect and restore local ecosystems.
