There is a crucial vote coming up in the Senate for lowering the voting age, S-222, the Vote16 Act. This is the second reading and there is a chance of winning this vote, which would be historic. They are asking for letter writing to Senators.

Here is a sample letter:

Dear Senators,

A lot of reform is needed to our political system. However, an honourable first step is to recognize youth when it comes to voting. They deserve a right to have a say in their future.

If youth can get driver’s licenses and hold down jobs at 16, pay taxes and contribute to our economy as they do, then they should be afforded the right to vote.
Please change this antiquated voting system of ours to be more inclusive by lowering the voting age to 16.
Furthermore, proportional representation also needs to be part of the electoral reform needed to make our country more equitable and inclusive.
