Here’s a fun cartoon colouring map that brings the outside in with a scavenger hunt for locating and learning about the nature found in the heart of downtown Victoria.

Created in collaboration with the Robert Bateman Centre, this map features the talents of cartoonist Nelson Dewey, the artwork of Robert Bateman, plus some photo tips by your truly.

What makes this interesting is that on the front of the map you can see little vignettes of various Robert Bateman paintings. On the back of the map, you can match up what the part of the painting on the front relates to in terms of the entire painting on the back and learn something about the featured species that inhabit Victoria. Putting this collaborative effort together was a very satisfying experience thanks to great partners and so much positive feedback from individuals and families who have discovered this map and more about nature in the heart of our city.
