This summer, Capital Bike makes exploring by bike more rewarding than ever. Now in its third year running, the Sticker Challenge has over 60 organizations participating.  The guiding principal: the more places you visit by bike, the more prizes you can win.

Capital Bike is putting on another one of the region’s biggest, free cycling events this summer. Originating out of the COVID-era Go By Bike Week, the Sticker Challenge was a way to engage the community in a physically distanced way. This year, the Sticker Challenge has graduated to its own full-fledged, two-week long event!

“It started off as a one-off to help people stay active” explains Jordan Glowicki, Event Manager “but it blew up and now it’s a stand-alone event. This year, we have a bigger geographic reach with region specific-coloured stickers and expect an even higher turnout! Organizations love it because it brings new patrons to their doors, and riders love it because they discover awesome places to visit, shop, and explore that they might not have otherwise discovered.”

“The Sticker Challenge is such a fun reason to hop on your bike and explore new places in the capital region!” says Stacey Toews of Level Ground Coffee, “We love welcoming people into our Tasting Room and seeing the joy they get from a great drink, a great view from our patio, and a shiny sticker.”

“We have partnered with so many awesome locations this year, and many are offering additional incentives to visit their locations like free coffee, drop in passes, or other discounts! All you have to do to participate is check out the map, ride your bike to the locations, and collect stickers to win prizes!” adds Kristin Kain, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator.

This Sticker Challenge has over $2000 worth of prizes to be won, including:

  • Roundtrip on the MV COHO for 2 people and 2 bikes from Black Ball Ferry
  • GC for 2 (whale or Bear Watching) courtesy of Jamies Whaling Station
  • Multiple Prize packs valued at over $125 each

Many businesses are offering additional incentives to visit their locations like free coffee, drop in passes, or other discounts.

Event runs from August 1st – 14th. Photo submissions for the sticker challenge can be sent to admin@capitalbike.ca until August 21st.
