Greater Victoria’s Bike to Work Week is returning September 28th-October 4th, 2020 with a new name “Go By Bike Week” and a brand new website!

The new name, Go By Bike Week, is intended to add a new level of inclusivity to Greater Victoria’s largest, free, community event.  The event, normally held the last week on May each year, was postponed due to COVID-19.

“I’m really excited that this year, we’re giving the event a new name.” explains Sara Lax, Event Coordinator, at the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society, “For the first time ever, we are reaching out to families and recreational riders and giving them the chance to be part of this event. At this year’s Go by Bike Week, they’ll be able to log all rides, including recreational rides, rides to the park, or to the grocery store, and win really great prizes.”

Bike trips to work are still at the core of Go By Bike and the event is still expecting workplace team challenges to be at the heart of the event. To help with registration and trip logging, the Society is happy to note that there is a new provincial Go By Bike website.

“There is now a brand new website for the event. It’s awesome.  Very slick.  Super easy to use.  Logging trips, literally, takes less than a minute.” Explains Adam Krupper, Executive Director, Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society, “There’s just one catch: everyone has to re-register on the new website. And that’s critical.  You must be a registered user to win the prizes and log your rides.”

The Society is encouraging everyone to make a new account on the new website. Workplace Teams, and a new feature, Family Teams, are also encouraged to register their teams right away. As an incentive, the Society will have a limited number of special ‘early-bird’ prizes for people who make a new account.
