Here is my request to council to support the continuation of the Oil Tanker Moratorium Act. It would be helpful if you would take a moment to send a note to your council, Metchosin or other, with the same request.

Re: Oil Tanker Moratorium Act

I urge council to request that Mayor Little write to the provincial and federal governments in support of continuing the Oil Tanker Moratorium Act which protects BC’s Coast. A resolution to this effect was brought to UBCM 2025 by Saanich Council, which approved it unanimously. Unfortunately, the resolution didn’t make it to the floor as it was a late submission.

I have just learned that Victoria Council has voted unanimously in favor of the action that I am advocating. The background information submitted by Councilor Dave Thompson and Councilor Matt Dell is attached.

We need to protect marine species, BC’s coast, and coastal communities. I’m counting on you to represent us in the strongest terms. Thank you.
