Cutblock TA1375, identified as a Priority Oldgrowth Deferral Area, was auctioned off this March by BC Timber Sales to West Coast Log Salvage, Corp., despite outcry from scientists, forest professionals, and the public.

While logging has not yet begun, the window to protect this irreplaceable ancient forest is closing fast. This ecologically rich forest in Vancouver Island’s Upper Tsitika Valley, provides critical habitat for threatened Marbled Murrelets, rare Oldgrowth Specklebelly lichen, centuries-old western hemlocks, and culturally significant cedar—values that cannot be replaced once gone.

There is still time to act.

Join us in urging Premier David Eby and his ministers to halt logging in TA1375 and extend the existing Tsitika Mountain Ecological Reserve. Decisions now will determine if this irreplaceable old-growth forest (and others like it) survive for future generations—or vanish forever.
